this one here. firefighters pumped water out of this flooded redwood city apartment complex. >> it was up to a foot deep before we got here. we were able to pump it out. >> reporter: they got the water out before it could cause any damage to the interior of the building. the heavy rain kept this crew moving from one trouble spot to another. >> it's been very busy today. a lot of freeway accidents. >> reporter: a pg&e crew was sent to help restore power, but they needed help themselves after a large oak tree fell on top of their truck. it happened friday night on stevens canyon road. no one was hurt, since the workers were working away from the truck. >> it was bad luck, really, but the drivers said it's the second time it happened to them, so you kind of do feel it's a big dangerous. when it does storm up here, you think a tree is gonna come through your house any second, so it can get scary. >> reporter: james decided to trim the trees around his house after this one fell on his driveway today. but he says that's part of living in the mountains. >> it's really not that bad. everybody has

in santa cruz, santa clara county. moderate rain in fremont and gusty winds in union city. on the peninsula, a heavy downpour and winds have lightened up here. but still some light rain. the front has yet to move through san francisco. some heavier rain on the peninsula from woodside to 280 and flooding is happening in the santa cruz mountains. we are looking at rain rates of an inch an hour and another additional inch is forecasted. take a look at these current wind gusts. you can see where the front has moved through. it is breezy and dangerous out there. and throw 10:15 we will be looking at flooding imminent, and then beyond that the creeks and the streams will be draining into the rivers, and then we are looking at the rivers rising right on through midday. carolyn? >> it is a wild morning. thank you, low saw. both eastbound lanes of the richmond san rafael bridge remain blocked by an overturned big rig right now. the chp won't even think about moving it until the winds die down. abc7 news reporter nick smith is on the bridge to update this storm-related news. >> carolyn, this is the f

this is going to be this way for a while. city officials are looking for a permanent fix that might not come until spring. look at the mess on this street that they have to cleanup, the pavement piled up in front of this home. it is going to be a while until this neighborhood gets back to normal here's a good look at the hole in the daytime this happened 8:30 yesterday morning. not only created a huge hole, but snapped off a water service line, a water main and a sewage line this happened because there was too much in the creek it plugged up the culvert that sent the water gushing on to the street and eroded the soil this is causing a headache for residents. >> bottled water, just going to the bathroom. >> it may be the case we have to wait until we have dry weather before we can do a permanent fix. this road could be closed for some time. >> reporter: it could have been worse, raw sewage almost made night the creeks, crews were able to build a bypass just before the collapse. city officials are now begging residents to please, keep the creeks clear of garbage and when they do see garbage p

here up from south san francisco, daly city, san bruno. pretty quiet in the south bay except for morgan hill and gilroy some shower activity. winds gusting to 49 miles an hour at sfo. a wind warning in effect. and oakland, 36 miles an hour. you can see all across the bay area, santa rosa from 41 miles an hour to san jose. we have the wind, we have the rain, we have a flash flood watch through the evening hours. so the heaviest rain will continue to sink to the south of us throughout the morning hours and the wind advisory is up through noon today. we are looking at south winds anywhere from 20 to 30 miles an hour and we are seeing the gusts already up to 50 miles an hour. so here we are on track to see the heaviest rain from the north bay into the central bay within the next hour. so stay with us. we will keep you updated. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. with all that going on and this series of storms the rivers are rising throughout the bay area. there's a flat warning this morning for the napa river. that's where abc7 news reporter kera clapper joins us live. how is it looking so far? >

to a clogged storm drain. this is video taken today as the city works to try a temporary fix. officials say permanent repairs may not be finished until spring. >>> live storm tracker 2 lit up and going. we have rain falling. you saw ken up in petaluma, light showers there. more significant rain showing up toward czar and healdsburg. you can see the santa rosa area, there's mendocino avenue. moderate rainfall, a little heavier than what ken's seeing. compared to what we did see, this is more showery activity. if you are driving up 101er to petaluma, you ever some wet roads, not flooding. the wipers are on moderate or enter mitt ntd. then you head toward pacific arks some showers coming onshore north right here near the edge mar area. out toward the portola valley arks reports of sprinkles here. a little activity out here toward the market street area. you get the picture. back out the east bay, what's going on? we got nothing. in the next few hours i suspect we'll see showers move into some of the east bay corridors. the real story will than morning commute. that's when the strongest dynamic

up in the mission district. today, city workers broug in sandbags, to protect businesses and homes. the neighborhood is a former lagoon. rain water just runs down from neighborhoods and pools there. we talked with one person who says this is great. >> people get between seven to 10. and there is maybe a front door but when have you loading dock as cross the street which is a restaurant that is all open across. that goes three feet below street level. they need 35 dags -- 35 bags. >> the city has a plan owe keep the mission from flooding going forward. the rain is a problem in daily city. work crews trying to shore up a hillside that crumbled after a rupture. it let loose what,000 gallons of water and just unleashed a huge mudslide. crews have been out there replacing the soil that shifted. the hillside must be shored up. what is job one. >> the california emergency management agency reminds us this weather provides a good reason to make sure that we are ready for rainy season or a natural hazard. we're encouraged to have our kits stocked with items including radios and flashlights
